![]() ![]() For example coco cola, cigarettes, coffee and alcohol. But there are certain things I know I cannot have so I don't. But I keep that to about 20% of the time. Then we might go to the football at the weekend or some event and I’ll relax and just enjoy like others. ![]() Which is 80% of the time I really try to focus and be conscious of what I’m eating and have a basis of plants in my diet. What kind of balance do you have in your life now? The conundrum was not eat but I needed to eat plants, the compromise was juicing drink the water filtered plants. I was of the opinion that if I created my own famine, and just drank water I would possibly be doing myself some good, then when I looked at the sick side of things and realised I wasn't putting enough micro-nutrients in my system I though now I need to eat plants. The idea of all the fat we are carrying is storage for energy for lean times for back in the day when there were famines but there’s no famines in our world now, there is a feast on every corner. So to me it was why am I carrying all this fat? Why am I sick? And so I looked at it from that point of view. The bottom line of that conversation is you are fat, you are sick and you are nearly dead. I got to a point where I had a conversation with myself, near to the age of 40, 22 stone and loaded up on medication with high cholesterol, blood pressure and pre-diabetic. How did you come to the revelation of juicing? The philosophy of it was my own idea but once I decided to do that I got supervision and medical experts on board to monitor what I did. And then I was off all medication.ĭid you have medical advice before you did this? I was going to go for 2 years originally but it turned out it only took 60 days of juice and 90 days of plants. But to get me started I thought I would juice first for 60 days. So I decided to live and go for a period of time only living on plant foods: fruits and vegetables, nuts, beans and seeds. The food one was the one I really needed to make the change on. You cant tackle them all in one hit but it was which one shall I attack first. I realised quickly that I was failing at all of them. Then when I heard that 70% of disease in the Western World is caused by lifestyle choices: whether you smoke, eat well, how much you move, your sleep, whether you have love in your life, how you manage your stress. That’s when I needed to take medication every morning and night to get through the day and it was 8 years of that 8 years of out-sourcing my health to someone else. But you can’t ignore the biological laws of cause and effect and I broke. When you are young you think you are invincible. I was very busy, focused on other things rather than my health, procrastinating and putting it off, I was working around the clock, eating a lot of fast food, addicted to refined carbohydrates, sugar and caffeine and salt and drank too alcohol and soda, smoke too many cigarettes and you name it I was the poster boy of what not to do. I think the way to characterise where I was is pretty much where most of the people in the world are today. Talk us through your life before juice and what led to the transformation? ![]()
